Mentoring

What is Mentoring?

Mentor Coaching for the ICF focuses on the Competencies. You will be mentored on developing and growing your coaching skills rather than being coached on practice building , life balance or other topics.

Confidence in Your Competencies - New for 2018

As a qualified coach, you want to continue your professional development and maintain your ICF accreditation. To do this means you need to complete 10 mentoring hours. You want this mentoring to be valuable to you as a coach, so that you’re not just jumping through hoops to continue your Professional membership. I want that for you too, for your mentoring to be a space where you can learn and grow in your coaching skills so that you can consolidate and celebrate your current skills, learn new approaches and leave feeling you have grown Confidence in Your Competencies.

Why choose this Mentoring Programme?

My formula is simple: Quality Mentoring = Quality Coaching

When you take what you learn from your mentoring and apply that to your clients you get Quality Results.

When done well, the mentoring experience goes far beyond you as the coach, it will reach into your clients and those that they come in contact with.

 Who is this programme for?

This mentoring programme is for you if you are:

How does Mentoring work?
Mentoring with Point of Light Coaching
Mentoring is an active and experiential way to improve your coaching skills by focusing on the competencies.

You are a unique individual so there are 3 1:1 mentoring sessions where I can listen to your work and give you direct feedback against the competencies. I still get nervous about this myself and yet always appreciate discussing what another professional notices in my work. Which competencies are your natural strengths? Which areas could be given more focus, wha
t experiments can you carry out during your next session with your client? 1:1 time may be the place where you ask any questions privately. We can explore where you get stuck with a client and how to free yourself.

You are a coach and this means you love to hear other people’s experiences and views to inform your practice. To respond to that Confidence in your Competencies involves Group Mentoring via Zoom. You will see in the modules that we will take time to discuss each competency, what that means in reality and what your experiences are. What works for your client and what doesn’t? We will truly explore bringing the competencies to life. You will then have time between sessions to experiment with what you are learning or reconnecting with. You will have the opportunity to coach a fellow group member during these sessions.

The third aspect of this programme is Personal Preparation, enabling you to get the most from each session. To help get the learning juices flowing for each competency there will be pre-work for you to reflect on. This might be a video, exert from a book or short handout to enhance and challenge your perspective. You can pair up with another participant and practise what you are learning between each call.

What does a mentor Coach do?

A mentor Coach will provide professional assistance in achieving and demonstrating the levels of coaching competency demanded by the desired credential level sought by a coach.
I am certified Mentor Coach for ICF ACC and PCC level

I have been a PCC coach since 2013 and being an ICF Mentor Coach is a very natural path for me to follow. I have recruited, trained and supervised coaches from around the world for a period of 7 years before starting my own business, Point of Light Ltd. Mentoring allows me to continue that desire to see coaches flourish within the profession. When I first started my ICF journey I really grappled with the true meaning of the competencies. What did that look like with an actual client? My Confidence in Your Competencies programme is a personal response to the professional need.

Liz is a well respected coach & mentor who is keen to continue to grow personally as she helps others to develop & find fulfilment in their lives. Liz has a lovely presence & a warm, open heart. It has been a pleasure to work alongside her & to see her flourish in both capability & confidence. Colin Russell - Leadership Consultant - Developmental Coach
